0 . DISCLAIMER. German mythology is very dear to my heart. I grew up with stories about the Varian Disaster and the likes of Siegfried Dragonslayer and while there aren't many written documents on German mythology similar to the likes of th Prose Edda, I do draw inspiration from whatever sources I can find. Using the Prose Edda of course comes with some very specific caveats: one) there are differences between Norse mythology and German mythology (and you'll find that I might use German names for gods that are frequently known by their Norse names, e.g. Wotan/Wodan vs Odin), and two) Snorri was Christian and his storytelling of old mythology is done through a very Christian lense that historically helped normalise Christian belief in a still significantly non-Christian society. All of this to say: take whatever I ramble about with a grain of salt. I'm a biologist, not a historian.
Additionally: Moa does not identify herself as any existing ethnicity. There'll be times she says she's Norman-French, there might be times she says she's Icelandic or German. I've thus entirely taken out any mention of ethnicity. Her nationality depends on the universe we write in. She's a foreigner essentially anywhere she goes. Her lack of ethnic affiliation is a very personal aspect of my storytelling and depending on the context, it might be more or less central to her behaviour in her story.I . INSPIRATION. Moa started out as a Vikings original character. Ever since the release of Vikings in 2013, she's grown into an enigma I love exploring through a particularly fatalistic and fanatical lense. My preferred genres are high fantasy, science fiction, and gritty, slightly supernatural crime, so that's where I default to writing her. But I can probably make anything else work too! Let me work with you, I love coming up with new perspectives for settings I have not considered before.II . (UN)FOLLOWING. I usually follow back quickly, depending on how busy I am with life. If I follow, it means I want to interact with you: feel free to skip the awkward bits and directly come yell at me about your muse! III . TRIGGERS. Due to the nature of subjects I write, I will not tag general mentions of violence and death. As for what content may be present on this blog and earn me the general 21+ rule, I frequently discuss: death, madness, coercion, addiction, sexual assault as part of character backstories, miscarriage, war, and generally unhealthy relationships. There's frequent imagery of consumption in relation to vampirism, verging on cannibalism comparisons. I do not reblog violent imagery. Please curate your dashboard to be a comfortable place for you! I will do the same.

IV . SHIPPING. I'm a sucker for writing any kinds of relationships and exploring dynamics in different settings and under different circumstances. I also absolutely encourage you to tell me directly whether you want to plot out a ship or start with something pre-established, I can assure you that I'm usually always down for anything and just extremely suck at bringing it up. Please know however that while I am always absolutely down for writing romance, I also encourage plotting platonic relationships! In the same breath, I also enjoy sharing mutuals and the same "friend groups" in character, allowing for more world-building and in-depth plotting.

V . MEMES. Memes are taken as prompts for starters and the response placed in a new text post to make the transformation of the meme into a thread easier. They are intended for responding but you obviously don't have the obligation to. I consider them read when you give them a little heart. Likewise, I tend to send multiple memes if I feel like it and will not expect of you to answer them all. It gives variety! Options to choose from! Please also don't hesitate to send memes that hint at pre-established relationships: we don't have to have written before in order to test the waters. Essentially any thread can be viewed in isolation if you want to keep it experimental.VII. ACTIVITY. Man, I can be slow. I thought I would be slow when I was graduating from university but now that I have a full-time job, I am even slower. AT THE BEGINNING OF TIME, we are taught, there was the ice of Niflheimr and the fire of Múspell, and in between the ice and the fire, lay the Yawning Void ginnungagap. Nothing inside of it, the space between fire and ice completely empty until a well in Niflheimr overflew and poured rivers down into the abyss; and in the abyss, the first primordial being was born. Ymir, from whose limbs the first Jötnar grew. He slept and sweated from the fires underneath, the story continues, and when he did not sleep, he drank from the milk of the primordial cow Auðumla. Auðumla ate the rime born from the very same river and while doing so, licked free the ancestor of all æsir, Búri. Búri fathered a son and the son fathered the three gods Óðinn, Vili and Vé. Óðinn, Vili and Vé killed Ymir for he was evil and so were all his descendants, and the blood that poured out of Ymir's body created a flood that killed off all Jötnar except two. Ymir's corpse, the three gods took to the centre of the ginnungagap. There, they turned his flesh into the earth, his bones into the mountains, and his blood into the sea. His skull, separated from his body and held up by the four dwarves Norðri, Suðri, Austri, and Vestri, they turned into the sky with sparks of Múspell's fire to form the stars and the moon.

From Ymir's eyelashes, the three æsir formed a prison to keep out the hostility of the surviving Jötnar and called the fortification Miðgarðr, the Middle Earth. As they found driftwood on the shore, they gave it spirit, sense, and blood, and so the first human man and the first human woman were born, their names Ask and Embla. But the rivers of Élivágar still poured and slithered and as they had born Auðumla and Ymir, they could bear life again when a new cycle began.As with all myths, humankind only knows what has been written by man, never by woman. Life begins not in a limb, but a womb. Búri was not at all that different from Ymir, but Ymir was a primordial woman. He despised her as man tends to do, envied her for the gift of life. His sons inherited his hatred and did what man's offspring has always done: they killed the woman and created a male god, the All-Father, the God-King, Óðinn.
The origin of Moa Zhao lies exactly there, in the last wails of a dying woman, a primordial woman, and the blood that birthed her the moment that Ymir died. She lives on forever, with the water of the Élivágar in her veins, never truly killed, always reborn for as long as life exists.

Modern. Moa Zhao is a federal agent specialised in counter-terrorism and leads a unit at the president's direct command. Based on a plotline written in a rp group on discord and highly affiliated with @bak3rs and @eiiidetic, she investigates the Cabal, a powerful secret government with the aim of population control. It's suitable for any regular threads and subtly supernatural, the X-Files/Fringe sort of settings that allow for some eerie, unbelievable speculations on the existence of non-terrestrial and non-human intelligence. For a little more information on some Cabal details (though perpetually being worked on), refer to this carrd and feel free to ask questions! Additionally: the plotting-exclusive Stargate verse is an extension of the modern verse and introduces the Sun Cult of Atoum. The verse is not ship-exclusive but any threads specifically referring to plot lines established with Elenore Wells and Emily Rhodes include Moa's marriage to Dima Weigand, belonging @resnare.

The Butlerian Jihad forced man to think again, to return to its nature. But not everyone could; mankind divided itself into human and animal. Moa, mother, was the first to attempt saving what did not want to be saved ― and from that effort, the Bene Gesserit were born, an order of religious mysticism that begun the search for the Kwisatz Haderach. But the first Reverent Mother Superior left the order just when it started taking shape: because the fundamental nature of the observer is to watch. And she would, and she would wait, until the Shortening of the Way.

She does not intervene unless the Pattern tells her to, and until Rand al'Thor is born and with him the return of Lews Therin Telamon, she sits in the uninhabitable dunes of Termool where not even the Aiel dare to go. She cannot save lives the Wheel has not permitted to be saved and she watches, endlessly, as the ages come and go ― though occasionally, something or someone may persuade her to leave the dunes and enter the realm of civilisations.
