AT THE BEGINNING OF TIME, we are taught, there were two sides of the same coin: the ice of Niflheimr and the fire of Múspell, and in between the ice and the fire, lay the Yawning Void ginnungagap. Nothing inside of it, the space between fire and ice completely empty until a well in Niflheimr overflew and poured rivers down into the abyss; and in the abyss, the first primordial being was born. Ymir, from whose limbs the first Jötnar grew. He slept and sweated from the fires underneath, the story continues, and when he did not sleep, he drank from the milk of the primordial cow Auðumla. Auðumla ate the rime born from the very same river and while doing so, licked free the ancestor of all æsir, Búri. Búri fathered a son and the son fathered the three gods Óðinn, Vili and Vé. Óðinn, Vili and Vé killed Ymir for he was evil and so were all his descendants, and the blood that poured out of Ymir's body created a flood that killed off all Jötnar except two. Ymir's corpse, the three gods took to the centre of the ginnungagap. There, they turned his flesh into the earth, his bones into the mountains, and his blood into the sea. His skull, separated from his body and held up by the four dwarves Norðri, Suðri, Austri, and Vestri, they turned into the sky with sparks of Múspell's fire to form the stars and the moon.

From Ymir's eyelashes, the three æsir formed a prison to keep out the hostility of the surviving Jötnar and called the fortification Miðgarðr, the Middle Earth. As they found driftwood on the shore, they gave it spirit, sense, and blood, and so the first human man and human woman were born, their names Ask and Embla. But the rivers of Élivágar still poured and slithered and as they had born Auðumla and Ymir, they could bear life again when a new cycle began. As with all myths, humankind only knows what has been written by man, never by woman. Life begins not in a limb, but a womb. Búri was not at all that different from Ymir, but Ymir was a primordial woman. He despised her as man tends to do, envied her for the gift of life. His sons inherited his hatred and did what man's offspring has always done: they killed the woman and created a male god, the All-Father, the God-King, Óðinn.The origin of Moa Zhao lies exactly there, in the last wails of a dying woman, a primordial woman, and the blood that birthed her the moment that Ymir died. She lives on forever, with the water of the Élivágar in her veins, never truly killed, always reborn for as long as life exists.

PERSONALITY.

CHAPTER ONE: THE SPECIAL AGENT. Who is Moa Zhao? It is a question that at first seems entirely redundant. Moa Zhao is born in Rouen in late 1980, adopted at the age of two by a Chinese immigrant couple living in Irving, California. There are papers proving the adoption and headstones at the Pacific View Memorial Park that honour Nick and An Zhao. Moa Zhao is a workaholic and notoriously close-mouthed about her private life; she accumulates three doctorate’s degrees while working for the Federal Bureau of Investigations until, in 2018, she begins writing her fourth dissertation on genetics and genomics while simultaneously taking on the lead of a black site unit investigating terrorist threats of unexplainable origin. She’s a polyglot and fluent in a dozen of languages, but despite this and her experiences in a leadership position, hardly any of her subordinates claims to know her well. She is charismatic, disciplined, and perceptive: among other FBI agents, she quickly makes herself a name. Outside of work, her life seems a little too calculated. She gets up early to work out, comes home late to an apartment that is significantly larger than one would expect. Her orders come directly from the president and she has friends not just among politicians but influential scientists all across the world. So the question persists: Who is Moa Zhao?CHAPTER TWO: THE IMMORTAL. Two months after a Viking raid on the coast of West Francia in 867 AD, one of the thrall women dies while giving birth to a daughter. There is no funeral, the child never receives a name, and is raised by the other slaves. Her life is unremarkable: she faces sexual violence at the hands of the ruling count, never reaches her menarche, and after attempting to join the siege of Paris in 885 AD, disappears. Her body is never found. But some thralls see her silhouette near the forests, like a ghost. Stories about a young shieldmaiden appearing during battles and vanishing thereafter are shared throughout Europe during the Middle Ages but dismissed by historians. The closest someone gets to making a connection is a Russian journalist who traces the Zakharchenko family tree back to before the first world war, every apparent family member part of the military and none ever photographed. But before he can talk about it, he vanishes under mysterious circumstances.CHAPTER THREE: THE KGB AGENT. The last Zakharchenko is laid to rest in the Lazarevskoe Cemetery in Saint Petersburg, next to his wife Ilyushina Kryuchkova. He outlives her for nine years until he gets shot in 1978. But the coffin is empty, and rumours persist even far into the Cold War that Lieutenant Gennadiy Zakharchenko never fell. After the final dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the rumours die. A ghost remains a ghost, unacknowledged and better not seen. When a new President of the United States is elected in 1993, he is given a file about a special agent that has been serving since late 1979. He is made aware of this for one reason: she cannot die. Gennadiy Zakharchenko is, despite what historical records claim, a woman; and as far as the government of the United States knows, she was born long before 1980. Only the President still knows that name within the country, but not even he calls her anything but Special Agent Zhao. Gennadiy Zakharchenko died when the war took her wife. Moa Zhao pledged to never make the mistake of marrying again.

THERE WAS A PLACE ONCE, CALLED EARTH. Long before the Butlerian Jihad. Mankind inherited this place and in its greed and disregard for any other live, destroyed it. Somewhere along the way, mankind created artificial intelligence ― because life had become unbearable and incomprehensible. Man had started with enslaving others and then had begun to enslave itself, and in hopes of finding freedom in a lack of thinking, had created machines to take on the role of man while man could be something different. The Butlerian Jihad forced man to think again, to return to its nature. But not everyone could; mankind divided itself into human and animal.
She remembers life before the machines. This is an exploration of a prophecy and failure. She had dreamed of the Kwisatz Haderach, someone who could see what she saw and what her daughters, the Bene Gesserit, could not. Life. Nature. The inception and the closure of humankind.DISCLAIMER. I am currently reading the first of F. Herbert's books and subsequently my knowledge about the lore is still limited. My portrayal will be initially based on the 2021 movie adaptation with book influences, and eventually become based on the books with movie influences. The 'canon' lore remains intact: Moa is not human and continuously exists, albeit in different cycles with the most recent cycle being set approximately 800 AD and her current age over 13,000 years old. Most Bene Gesserit teachings initially come from her, including the Gom Jabbar and the teachings required to learn The Voice. She does not consider herself a god but has, among different cultures, been worshipped as one. Additionally, several of the powers associated with the Bene Gesserit ― including The Voice, Sensing the Truth, Petit Perception, and Prescience ― Moa already possesses in the earlier timeline but makes no use of. They are not newly acquired, she has had them since birth.

IN APRIL 2151, A KLINGON CRASH-LANDS IN BROKEN BOW, OKLAHOMA, causing the launch of Starfleet's starship Enterprise NX-01, the first starship using a warp five engine. Lieutenant Zhao boards the Enterprise with the Military Assault Command Operations (MACOs) under the command of General Casey, and after the disbanding of the MACOs in response to the founding of the Federation, becomes part of the Federation Starfleet. Her file is restricted and becomes even more restricted as time passes: when she is temporarily assigned to the USS Enterprise over a hundred years later under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, her file has not changed. And neither has she.
Her responsibilities upon the various ships differ, though are usually restricted to her either being a Science Officer specialising in Exovirology or a Strategic or Tactical Officer. She is fluent in several Federation languages and her demeanour significantly influenced by the years spent on Vulcan, studying the teachings of Surak.
When the detonation of every active warp core in 3069 caused wide-spread death and destruction and nearly led to the collapse of the United Federation of Planets, Moa Zhao returned to Vulcan, now Ni'Var, to aid the reunification of Romulans and Vulcans as a scholar and as a diplomat.DISCLAIMER. The portrayal of Moa Zhao and whether she is Lieutenant or Commander might change depending on what show and which season the interaction is based upon. Additional inspiration is taken from fiction set in the Star Trek universe.

THE GREAT SCOURGE OF MALACHOR BECOMES A LEGEND, a heroic battle in which the Jedi achieved a monumental victory over the Sith. But the temple of Malachor was built by slaves, women and men and children forced to pour blood into the construction and a war they never asked for. Moa Zhao, nameless then still, fought among them and died among them. A casualty that was doomed acceptable and erased from the myths. She was young, trying to protect those she had grown up with; much later, Darth Maul would have visions of the thousands of deaths at the hands of the Jedi. But for her, it never had been about them.
She was given no break to digest her inability to die; the few Sith that survived, dragged her body out of the ruins and forced her back into slavery. She escaped decades later, broken, traumatised. When Anakin Skywalker is born in 41 BBY, she is roughly 3950 years old. Her immortality is no sign of force sensitivity; in actuality, she would have sworn off any usage of the force even if she were able to do so. She survives as a mercenary, never settling for one city or even a planet. Her interactions are based on utility, she hardly has any friends. Neither the Sith nor the Jedi can persuade her to swear loyalty to one side. She wants to see an end to this war, only then can she die.DISCLAIMER. The majority of her skills in the main verse persist: she has superhuman speed, strength, eyesight, and agility, she is immortal and immune to disease, her healing duration is decreased, and she has a strong mind, making the mind trick a little more tedious but not impossible. She is not immune to the force and while she can wield a lightsaber (does not require force sensitivity, but is less effective usage-wise than a blaster for non-sensitive individuals), she has none in her possession. She wears armor at all times, here's the headcanon.

THE FIRST WORLD WAR DISILLUSIONS GENNADIY ZAKHARCHENKO. The combination of new, far more effective technology and out-dated tactics leads to mass slaughter and incredibly high casualties. The revolution begins even before the war is over; a cruel conflict based on ideals and attempting to dismantle the Tsardom in its entirety. She is a monarchist, has been for the majority of her life. But the war changes everything. When she leaves her home, she becomes a woman ― known to speak several European languages, adapting skillfully to the accents and dialects, and assertive, masculine. She keeps her name, Gennadiy. Keeps her inappropriate choice in wearing men's fashion, also. And between the lack of a marriage and the insinuation that she fought at the front as Poruchik Zakharchenko (it is unlikely after all that there were brother and sister by the same name), she remains an entirely unorthodox woman.SUITABLE FOR. Peaky Blinders, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Downtown Abbey. Pretty much suitable for any interaction set between the 1910s and the 1940s.
